PRESIDENT
Hi, my name is David Madsen I am the president of the Rocky Mountain Sledders. My job is to oversee the clubs decision making and organize ride schedules and the clubs productivity. I have been riding for about eleven years. I started ridding in Lamoille Canyon and the Wild Horse areas around Elko Nevada. My wife and I moved to Salt Lake City Utah in 1998. I worked for Komatsu Equipment for five years. I then advanced and now work for Kennecott Utah Copper. I ride a 2002 RMK 800 with a few modifications. We are as a club and personally involved with Utah Snowmobile Association. I have currently been elected as Vice President of the USA.
Since I have become involved with the Snowmobile clubs and originations, I have become acutely aware of their importance. Clubs do more for our sport than most people realize. Between the trail, lake and highway cleanups, charity fund raisers, trail markings and keeping everyone informed about land issues regarding local ridding areas there is a lot a club dose. Without the effort of the clubs and the Utah Snowmobile Association, we would not have our trail system, parking areas or most of our riding areas.
Even if you are not the type, that trail rides. I bet you still use the parking lots at the trail heads, then ride the trail for a while to get to your favorite back country ridding area. In Lamoille Canyon where I learned to ride, there is no parking areas or trails. Therefore, you would park on the side of the road hoping that you would not receive a parking ticket. If it snowed the night before a ride we would spend all day breaking trail. That means you would spend all day getting stuck and digging each other out just to go another six miles. The reason I mention all of this is that I want everyone to be aware of how important it is to be involved with a club or the Utah Snowmobile Association.
There is a club out there for everyone with their style of riding.
If you have any questions please contact me.
Thanks David Madsen, President of Rocky Mountain Sledders.
